Baselius college stands for academic excellence, development of skill and character formation so as to produce intellectually matured, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired men and women.
The aim of the college is to impart sound all-round education on the following lines:
To develop the potentialities of young men and women and help all those engaged in the pursuit of Truth and Knowledge keeping in view the intellectual, physical and spiritual values.
To inculcate the sense of discipline, social responsibility and community service in the youth and also bring home to them the dignity of manual labour.

To provide society with the right kind of leadership and men and women trained in various spheres who are competent to tackle the problems in life and make them worthy citizens of our community and the country in general.

Baselius college now offers Under Graduate Programmes in Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, English, Malayalam and Political Science. It also offers Post Graduate Courses in Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, English and Physics. With the startinf B.Com (Office Management and SecretarialPractice) a UGC aided vocational course in 1996, Baselius college has entered a new phase of vocationalisation of education. Career oriented add-on courses are being launched from 2004-05 academic year offerinf cetificate/Diploma/Advance Diploma under the UGC scheme. Such programmes help the students competent for the job market. The Department of Botany, Chemistry and Physics have geared up to conduct the courses in natural Rubber production, Water management and Computer Hardware Maintenance & Networking.

Baselius college campus is is made vibrant by several co-curricular and extra curricular activities. There are subject associations in all deparments, various clubs to promote artistic talents of students, tutorial system to facilitate greater inter personal interaction and relationship, NSS units to strengthen the sense of natinal integration and social commitment, NCC battalion to inculcate a sense of discipline and national defence and above all a unit of MGOCSM to nurture and nourish the spiritual needs of the students.There also a full-fledged computer centre which imparts basic trainingto our students.

Baselius College Basket Ball Tournament

Baselius college basketball Tournament is a mega sports event. Over the years the Tournament has grown into a prestigious event in which competitors from far and near vie with each other for the top honours. When the tournament was started in 1969 it was deemed as an All India Tournament. But various constraints compelled the organisers to make it an All Kerala Inter Collegiate Tournament. As you know, we are organising this year,s tournament as South India InterCollegiate Basketball Tournament. The contribution of Baselius College to the State and National basketball still remains distinct. When Baselians like Mohammed Iqbal, Mathew Oommen, Sijimon George Kareethara donned the National Jersy, it was a moment of glory for all the patrons and well wishers of Baselius College.

It is the ardent desire of all of us to further elevate the tournament to the level of an All India Event. We look forward to your esteemed and generous patronage.

26 th South India Inter-collegiate Baselius College Basketball Tournament 2007 is scheduled to be held on 16 th to 19 th January 2007.Sri S. Sreejith IPS Superintendent of Police Kottayam inaugurates the tournament at 6.30 pM on 16 th Jan. 2007 at the Baselius college Stadium.

Baselius college was established in the year 1964 to fulfil the long cherished dream of the Malankara Orthodox Christian Community to dedicate themselves to the service of God and man. During the last years of its illustrious existence, the college could produce brilliant academicians, administrators, politicians and sports prodigies who represented our nation in international tournaments.
